Many thanks to those of you who have commented on our Copyright Essentials paper - there are a number of very helpful bits of feedback there, many of which we will act on and revise the paper accordingly before publishing. The deadline we'd set for comments was this morning, but we'll leave it up for a few more hours for anyone who still wants to have a look over it: http://tinyurl.com/110321-JISCLegalCopyrightEss
Secondly, we've now also put up our Intellectual Property Rights Essentials - along similar lines and with some area of overlap. Deadline for comments on this one is 9am on Thursday, 7 April, and you can find this one here: http://tinyurl.com/110329-JISCLegalIPREss
One general comment we’d make is to note that these Essentials documents are intended to be just that – four page guides to the ‘bare bones’ of the legal area, and inevitably, need to be kept superficial. Subtleties, analysis of interpretation and exploration of less common exceptions on many occasions are covered in the Overview paper on the same topic - again we are currently revising these and hope to have one of them up for review shortly.
However, comments on which parts are misleading, confusing or over-simplified are still very welcome and useful to us – even where we decide not to elaborate further in the Essentials document, your comments will still flag areas for fuller explanation in the longer Overview document. So by all means, keep those comments coming!

Our first document for consultation is available on Google Docs at http://tinyurl.com/110321-JISCLegalCopyrightEss. This is a short introduction to copyright law for those who are unfamiliar, and we keep these to four pages long.
Please feel free to add comments (select 'Insert' from the menu, then "Comment") and add to the discussion (use the "Discussion" button towards the top right). Once finished, use the "Save" button, again towards the top right, then just navigate away, or close your browser window.
