Interception and Monitoring Law - Webcast

Our Interception and Monitoring Law took place on 16 May 2007 at 2:00.pm to 3:30.pm. JISC Legal provided practical guidance on when and how it is legal to access another person's email account, computer hard drive or network storage. Reasons for doing this might be related to long term staff absence, student disciplinary investigation, and even antivirus scanning.

Access to Individual Sections

File markers have been placed in the streamed file. This means that you can navigate through the video as it is streaming to each of the different sections. This is done by looking in the View menu in Windows Media Player and scrolling down to File Markers. The marked sections will be displayed and all you do is choose the section you would like to jump to.

What do I need to access video streams?

Video streams will work on most computers. To play the video you'll need:

    * Current computer with speakers or headphones
    * Windows Media Player. This is available free of charge from the Windows Media download site.
      (Versions for Mac and other OS are available)

Downloadable Segments

Recordings of segments of the the webcast are available to either play or download below. In order to download a segment of the webcast to your computer, PC users should usually right-click, then click "Save Target As...". Mac Users should click-and-hold on the link. For information about permitted uses, please refer to our copyright statement online.

The files are wmv files, using Windows audio codec 9.1 and Windows video codec 9. They are 320x240, variable bit rate. The file sizes range from 6-16MB, and are therefore suited to a broadband connection.

Subtitles
