Draft regulations to implement the last part of Directive 2006/24/EC in the UK, were issued on 17 February 2009. The regulations will apply to data generated or processed in the UK by public communication providers. They implement the aspect of the Directive relating to the retention of data produced by internet access, internet telephony and internet e-mail; and revoke and supersede the Data Retention (EC Directive) Regulations 2007, which covered fixed network and mobile telephony.
