The world’s main social network companies have agreed to adopt measures to keep personal details of teens secure. Facebook, Bebo, MySpace, Yahoo!, Microsoft and others have signed a European Commission agreement where all details of users under 18 years will be ‘private’ by default, and under 13s will not be permitted to use the service at all. Profiles will no longer be searchable and privacy controls will be tighter and easier to access. The Commission will review the agreement in one year.
