The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is losing patience with the disproportionate use of CCTV in schools and colleges. The ICO recommends a Privacy Impact Assessment is carried out by all institutions considering its use. Colleges and universities should weigh up the benefits, as well as the suitability of it, and the potential detrimental effects it will have on individuals. The statement follows a case where CCTV was used to gain a confession from an eight year old.
