The Data Protection Working Party of the EU proposed to discuss the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) on 24 and 25 June 2008. Earlier in the year it supported suggestions for stronger measures to require public communication services to notify security breaches to those beyond the immediate subscriber client group.
