European Conformity for Accessibility Requirements in Public Procurement of ICT

In 2005 the European Commission mandated a team of specialists to review the feasibility of implementing a set of harmonised accessibility requirements for public procurement of products and services in the ICT domain (European Commission mandate M/376). The team has now published its final draft report, which will be open for public comments until 22 July 2008. Education sector institutions, which are publicly funded and subject to procurement directives, may wish to monitor future progress of the report ideas. The report called "Conformity assessment systems and schemes for accessibility requirements" is available on the CEN website at: http://www.econformance.eu/euconformancereport.html
