The ICO has issued an updated version of the PIA handbook relevant for institutions considering how to handle personal information and manage risks to personal privacy. There is an emphasis on providing adequate safeguards in processing any personal information at the outset. In carrying out such an assessment, institutions will avoid unnecessary costs, loss of trust, reputation damage and, at the very least, meet legal requirements.
