By virtue of Part 8 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 concerning the extended data protection audit powers available to the Information Commissioner's Office, a Code of Practice for Assessment Notices will be published in April 2010. The purpose of the Code is to set out the framework on how audits will be conducted once an Assessment Notice has been served on an organisation.
