Further to consultation on The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, the Home Office has published new Codes of Practice that will come into force on 6 April 2010. Changes include, the appointment of a senior officer within organisations to supervise RIPA changes together with more readily available guidance on necessity and proportionality. This news story is particularly important for senior staff including Data protection Officers as well as IT staff and others at institutions who could be required to deal with interception and monitoring of staff and or student equipment.
