Sorting Out Your Records Collection

Lancashire County Council were found to be in breach of the Data Protection Act after sensitive personal data relating to social work records were found in a filing cabinet subsequently bought by a member of the public.  The council is now taking action to prevent such a situation re-occurring and has signed an undertaking to this effect.  Institutions are reminded that it's not just digital records that are covered by data protection, indeed print-off's must be dealt with appropriately too.  For more information on this news story and access to the full undertaking signed by the council please visit the the ICO website at: http://www.ico.gov.uk/what_we_cover/data_protection/enforcement.aspx
