The High Court has ruled that newspaper archives can lose their libel protection if essential elements of a case change and their web archives are not updated to reflect such change. FE and HE institutions should be vigilant when it comes to material that could be regarded as defamatory and have in place notice and take down procedures to deal with such statements.
