Privacy Principles to Boost Public Confidence

The Scottish Government, in a bid to increase public confidence in security and privacy, has issued draft guidelines on Identity Management and Privacy Principles that are now available for consultation until November 23.  Recommendations include carrying out privacy impact assessments and avoiding large centralised data bases of personal information.  Guidelines will be relevant for all Scottish institutions, who may wish to take part in formulating the final version.  For the full press release, please go to: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2009/08/31135841.
