Those developing and delivering learning materials at HE institutions should note that with effect from 1 April 2009 printed material published in Australia, Canada (including Quebec), Ireland, Spain and South Africa may be scanned under the terms of both Higher Education Licences, subject to any specific exclusions. And that Licensees signed up to the Comprehensive Digital Licence may make copies from digital materials published in South Africa (provided they have not been specifically excluded), and from any digital materials published in Australia, Canada (including Quebec), Ireland and Spain that have been specifically opted in.
Additionally with effect from 1 October 2009 Printed material published in France and Switzerland may be scanned under the terms of both Higher Education Licences, subject to any specific exclusions. Licensees signed up to the Comprehensive Digital Licence may make copies from digital materials published in France and Switzerland that have been specifically opted in.
