The EU Directive which extends the copyright protection for sound recordings to 70 years has completed its legal process and is now in force. EU members including the UK have two years (and twenty days) from the date of publication of the Directive in the Official Journal of the European Union to implement the Directive in their country i.e. until 01 Nov 2013.
JISC Legal has updated the law watch item of 30 September 2011 titled 'Copyright Term in Sound Recordings to be Extended' to reflect these dates.
