Two new Creative Commons Compatibility Wizards have just been launched. The free tools will help users to determine licence compatibility when blending CC licensed resources into new OERs. There are a variety of Creative Commons licences available and these tools offer options to aid decision making. They are based on the compatibility issues which arise when Creative Commons licensed resources are adapted and blended with each other. However, users should be aware that although CC licences are less restrictive than many others, conditions do still apply. Also, while it's possible to disseminate someone else’s Creative Commons licensed work in its entirety (either by itself or as part of a collection of work) the original licence will continue to apply to that work. Therefore, it's not possible to re-licence someone else’s CC licensed work. Access the wizards at the web2rights website. JISC Legal provides guidance on OERs and licences.
