New Guide to Aid Best Use of University Intellectual Property

The Intellectual Property Office has issued a new strategy guide for universities. The Intellectual Asset Management for Universities provides advice and information to universities to help them understand how they can best use their institution's Intellectual Property.  This can be an invention, trade mark, original design or the application of a good idea.  As well as providing a general introduction to the area of intellectual property (IP), the guide covers, IP and the university business model, structuring IP policies, IP contracts – ownership and access rights and benefits of collaborative research as well as monitoring and evaluation.  Further details can be found on the JISC BCE website at - http://bce.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2011/05/23/managing-intellectual-assets/.  You can also access the guide on the IPO website at - http://www.ipo.gov.uk/ipasset-management.pdf.
